GNP

GreenRut set up the GreenRut Naanzua Project (GNP). “Naanzua” means chili pepper in local dialect (Dagbanli). GNP is a Resilient Pepper Outgrower Business Model implemented in the Kumbungu District of the Northern Region to create an enhanced value chain process for chili pepper farming. The project covers land preparation to post harvesting activities for chili pepper farming.

GNP pre-financed 80 members in two communities within the Kumbungu District. This Resilient Pepper Outgrower Business Model has already started. The project was rolled out in June, 2023 in two communities. That is, Voggu Kushibo and Cheshegu. GNP members in both communities have a cumulative sum of 77.5 acres of chili pepper farmland.

GreenRut Voggu Kushibo Naanzua Cooperative (GVNC) has 50 members cultivating 56 acres of pepper farmland, whiles GreenRut Cheshegu Naanzua Cooperative (GCNC) has 30 members cultivating 21.5 acres of land. GNP also has a 10 member women’s group in Voggu-Kushibo as an extension to the Cooperative (GVNC), that was supported with credit to strengthen markets systems, by trading in Members pepper within respective markets and pepper value-chain.
